This is a topic that most people don’t talk about. It might be due to the fact that it is very personal and varies from person to person. The thing with dreams is that they are not given as much importance as we should. Some spend 6 hours and some even 11 hours dreaming. When you add up all the time we invest in doing this activity you can see that we pass a big part of our lives in adventures or realities that don’t even exist. The most shocking part is that some people don’t even remember their dreams.

This is such an inexact science that it makes it even harder to discuss. Have you ever stopped to question, what are dreams? Not in a psychological manner, but in a physical sense. How can our minds create such vivid images even when we are asleep? It isn’t only the images but what is attached to them, the feelings they evoke, the reasons for them to happen, and the sense of reality that goes along with them.

What is the reason for each individual to have a different relationship with their dreams? How can some remember them exactly, or not at all, or even know when they are dreaming? Is there a way to change these factors? Then there is the big question, do dreams have meanings? I believe that what generates our dreams is a mixture of different factors. Although the explanation for them to be what they are is known, what is exactly their purpose? Some say that they help to store important memories and sort through complicated feelings and thoughts. There has actually been research that demonstrates that it helps to store memories.

The reason that I chose to write about this topic is because I was remembering a dream that I had last night. I always have very vivid dreams and remember most of them throughout the day. Dreams form a very important part of my life because they are always very specific and realistic in such a manner that most times I confuse reality with my dreams. I remember something that happened to me and question if it really did happen or I just dreamt it.
